Who I am         

Hello. My name is Maureen Schiller and I am a counsellor working in private practice as a counsellor and supervisor in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and also Tideswell, Derbyshire. I have been working as a counsellor for 15 years.

The approach I use is "Person-Centred". It is non-interpretive and non-directive. That means I help you to explore your world and maybe identify changes you would like to make.

What sort of counselling? Well, I would say general counselling, which includes relationship problems, eating disorders, work related issues, stress, anxiety, depression, self esteem and identity or actually any emotional issues at all.

My background and experience

I have gained recognition by the British Association for Counselling as a Registered Counsellor by virtue of my experience and training, which includes a Diploma and Degree in Person-Centred Counselling awarded by the Metanoia Institute and Middlesex University. I abide and work by their Code of Ethics and Ethical Framework.

My knowledge and experience includes working with mental health problems and the use of art and image in counselling.

I have a special interest in eating disorders, and have been involved with Eating Disorders Association for more than thirty years.

My practice

Our first session is an assessment, giving us both a chance to see how we work together.  We then discuss whether to contract to meet regularly, but will still continue reviewing the process.

I run a flexible diary which includes appointment times during the day and evening and at the end of each one hour session we find a mutually acceptable time for the next. In this way, the service I offer can be tailored to fit your lifestyle.

Usually clients pay my fee at the end of each session. Cash or cheque are fine and although I have a standard sessional fee, it is negotiable in certain cases, so do ask if the fee would cause genuine hardship for you.
